I have a large collection of stencils, most of them Dreamweaver, and I'm lucky enough to be on the Dreamweaver Design Team. One of my other hobbies is card making (here's that blog), so I've traditionally used stencils with papercrafts. Now that I have this delightful NEW obsession (lol), I'm rediscovering the joys of stencilling on other surfaces!
Here, I used cheapie dollar store frames. I sanded them a little, then painted the first coat with Krylon Indoor Outdoor Blue Ocean Breeze paint.
Then I overpainted with Rustoleum Heirloom White, glazed a first coat, and chipped them up a little.
Then I used this beautiful stencil (Dreamweaver Large Flourish, LJ 896) with Dreamweaver White Matte Embossing Paste...as easy as frosting a cake! Once they were dry, I overglazed with a simple mix of brown acrylic paint and water. YUM!!
VOILA! Three upcycled cheapie frames, worthy of my wee grandkidlets, who're spending the whole summer with me here in Nova Scotia...I am one LUCKY Grammie...and life is... so very GOOD!! They even like to help me PAINT!
Today is a free theme for the design team...you just never KNOW what they'll come up with...please take a look, right here, and watch this space...I think I'll be using stencils a LOT in future! Isn't this hobby we share just the BEST!?
Here's a link to Dreamweaver stencils and accessories. Have a look and just imagine how many ways they could add to your home decor repertoire!
Noe being the proud and lucky Grammie that I am, I just have to post this pic from a day at the oceanside here in Nova Scotia yesterday...the cousins frolicking in the surf.
Aaaahhhh, life is so very...GOOD!!
Shouting out a great big huge Nova Scotian THANK YOU to the following decor bloggers for featuring these this week!
