I've decided that little accent tables are my FAVOURITE pieces to upcycle! My daughter claimed the first one I did (right here), which was also my very first post on my new blog, so I had to replace it.
This demi lune table can go anywhere in the house, and it's even light enough for the patio if I need some extra space for food and drink for guests. Currently it's in the guest bathroom holding "stuff..." lol...don't we ALL have so much "stuff!?" It cost me a whopping fifteen dollars at a flea market. It was actually sturdy enough that I didn't even need to glue and stabilize!
I stripped and sanded the top and the bottom shelf, and scrubbed every surface with TSP. I find that really helps the paint adhere. Then I stained the shelves with my current favourite stain...Minwax Onyx Black...and painted the legs with Rustoleum Heirloom White. I chipped some areas with my trusty mouse sander, then added two coats of Minwax Polycrylic to the shelves. I added a simple water-and-brown-acrylic-paint glaze to the legs, then coated them with one coat of the polycrylic. I just LOVE the contrast between the black stain and the white paint!
Thank you thank you THANK YOU for visiting! Your comments just make my day!
And just to make my week even BETTER,
I'm still VERY new to all this upcycling and decor stuff, and am absolutely positively TICKLED PINK when others see my things and think they're nice enough to feature on THEIR blogs!
Thank you thank you THANK YOU from the bottom of my eastern Canadian heart!!
I'm partying here and here and here and here and who knows WHERE this week.
This turned out great. I'd love if you shared at our showoff party going on now at http://decoratinginsanity.com.

I love it...I have one myself and its the perfect size for the hall.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! My mom has a table just like the one in photo 1. Maybe I can convince her to let me transform it like you did. Came over as a fellow participant in Serenity Now's weekend blog party.
ReplyDeleteThis really caught my eye! I've not used black stain yet. I like leaving some pieces with the wood stain on top and painting the rest -- this is really a nice contrast and you did such a good job with it! Love the lines and shape of the piece too!
ReplyDeleteOh, that is very pretty! I like how that turned out. Thanks for linking it up at Home Sweet Home! Have a great 4th weekend!
